Frequently asked questions

Product Questions

What are DarkOut Blinds made of?

Each blind is built around a precision-cut aluminum frame, lined with premium triple-layer blackout fabric. The frame seals to your window edges and the fabric blocks 100% of incoming light — no glow, no leaks, just pure darkness.

Do they really make the room pitch black?

Yes. When measured and installed properly, our blinds block 100% of outside light. Independent light-meter tests measure 0.0 lux at midday with a south-facing window. Perfect for light-sensitive sleepers, babies, and shift workers.

Can I install these in a rental apartment?

Absolutely. Our no-drill tension design is damage-free, leaves zero marks, and removes in seconds. Renters love us — and so do landlords.

Can I open and close the blinds easily?

Yes. Once installed, the front fabric panel lifts smoothly so you can let light in during the day and pull it back down for total darkness at night.

Frequently asked questions

Measurement Questions

How do I measure my window correctly?

Measure the width from the left edge to the right edge, and the height from the top to the bottom of your window frame. Take three measurements at different points and use the smallest one. Accurate measurements are critical for a full blackout fit — see our measuring guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.

Can I use rough estimates or standard sizes?

No — we strongly recommend precise measurements. Standard sizes won't guarantee a blackout seal because window openings vary wildly. Take 60 seconds to measure properly and you'll get a perfect fit.

What if my window shape is unusual?

No worries. Reach out to us with a photo and your measurements, and we'll let you know if we can custom-build for your space.

Where can I find help with measuring?

Our Measuring page has a visual step-by-step guide. If you're still stuck, email thedarkoutblinds@gmail.com with a photo of your window and we'll talk you through it.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. To confirm whether we ship to your country, email us at thedarkoutblinds@gmail.com with your address and we'll quote shipping.

Will I get tracking information?

Yes. As soon as your order ships, we email you a tracking link so you can follow your package in real time.

Frequently asked questions

Returns & Warranty

Can I return or exchange my blinds?

Because each set is custom-sized to your window, all sales are final. We don't accept returns or exchanges unless the product arrives damaged or made incorrectly — in which case we'll always make it right.

What if I measured my window wrong?

Unfortunately we can't replace blinds when measurements were entered incorrectly. Please follow our measuring guide carefully and double-check your numbers before placing the order.

What if my blinds arrive damaged or defective?

Email us within 7 days of delivery with clear photos of the issue. If it's on our end — manufacturing defect, shipping damage, wrong size cut — we'll send a replacement at no cost, no questions asked.

How do I report an issue with my order?

Email thedarkoutblinds@gmail.com with your order number and photos showing the issue. Our team responds within 24–48 hours.
