Step 1
Unpack and prepare
Carefully remove all components from the packaging and lay them out on a clean, flat surface. You'll see four aluminum frame pieces, four corner connectors, and the blackout fabric panel pre-attached.
Tip: keep the packaging until your blind is installed and tested — just in case.
Step 2
Click the frame together
Push each corner connector into its matching frame piece until you hear a click. Build the frame flat on the floor first — much easier than holding pieces up to the window.
Tip: align the fabric tabs on the same side as you assemble. They'll face into the room when installed.
Step 3
Press into your window
Lift the assembled frame into your window recess. Press firmly along all four edges — the tension grip will hold it in place. Walk around the room with the lights off to check for any light leaks at the edges and adjust until the seal is perfect.
That's it. Your room is now genuinely dark.
Troubleshooting
Hit a snag during install?
The blind feels loose in the window
The blind feels loose in the window
The tension fit needs both ends fully pressed. Run your finger along the top and bottom edges — if you can slip a fingernail in, press harder until you feel it grip. If your window has a slight bevel, you can also wedge the included foam shim behind the frame for extra hold.

Push the frame harder into the window recess so the fabric makes flush contact with the sides. Most light leaks come from a frame that hasn't fully seated. If the leak persists in one specific spot, your window may have a chip or uneven surface, install single-sided foam tape from your local hardware store.

Double-check your dimensions against the order confirmation. If the size matches what you ordered but doesn't fit your window, the original measurements were likely off. Message us at thedarkoutblinds@gmail.com with the actual window dimensions and a photo — we'll work out a solution.
How do I remove or move the blind later?
How do I remove or move the blind later?
Grip the bottom edge and pull straight out toward you — the tension releases easily. The frame leaves no marks, holes, or residue. Move it room-to-room or take it with you when you move out.
